The Kigosi Project is located within the Kigosi-Miyabi and Ushirombo greenstone belts in northwestern Tanzania. The Kigosi-Miyabi granite-greenstone belt hosts small-scale artisanal workings at Luhwaika and Igunda both of which sub-crop intermittently along a strike length of approximately 4.8 kilometres in the Kigosi Project Area. Further to the southeast, these artisanal workings are aligned with the Miyabi Gold Project owned by African Eagle.
Tanzanian Royalty has been actively exploring Kigosi since November 2005 following the receipt of a permit from the Ministry of Wildlife and Nature Conservation. During this intervening period, the Company conducted extensive exploration in the form of soil geochemistry, geophysics, RAB, RC and diamond drilling throughout the property.

Three main prospects, Luhwaika, Igunda and Msonga, have so far been identified within the confines of the Kigosi Project Area. These all exhibit significant potential for the delineation of economic gold mineralization in the near future. Luhwaika is comprised of two principal shear zones: Luhwaika Main and Luhwaika West, with the Igunda Zone marking the southeastern strike extension of Luhwaika. Altogether these zones represent a potential strike length of up to 5km of which 1.9km only has been drilled to date. The Msonga Prospect, a 7km long gold-in-soil anomaly on virgin ground hosts three sub-parallel auriferous shear zones that require further testing.
Modern exploration has been conducted on the Kigosi Project intermittently since 1998 as noted in the following chronology:
Various Tanzanian vendors are awarded PL’s by the Ministry of Mines covering the bulk of the Game Reserve area although no field work was done.
36,314 line kilometres of airborne magnetic and radiometric survey work was conducted by Geodass of South Africa on N-S flight lines with 250 mt. intervals.
No field exploration was conducted pending issuance of a permit for pilot exploration in Game Reserve area.
AngloGold-Ashanti optioned Kigosi from Tanzanian Royalty and conducted grassroots exploration activities including 8,600 line kilometres of high resolution airborne magnetic surveys. In addition, 22,500 soil samples were collected on 160 metres x 40 metres spaced grids covering the Luhwaika, Igunda and Msonga prospects. A total of 67 pit samples were analyzed for gold content along with 782 rock chip samples. Regional geology mapping revealed outcrops of deformed mafic volcanic rocks, Banded Iron Formation (BIFs) and sub-crops of intermediate to mafic volcanic rocks which were previously not documented and likely represent an extension of Miyabi Greenstone Belt.
248 biogeochemistry samples taken on 100 m x 100 m spaced grids covering Luhwaika and Igunda Prospects; 766 bio-geochemistry samples taken on 400 m x 200 m spaced grids covering Msonga; 2,203 regional soil geochemistry taken on 400m x 400m grid spacing in 24 out of39 licenses; 2,000 regional soil geochemistry samples taken on 200m x 200m grid spacing in 24 out of 39 licenses; 1,790 detailed soil geochemistry samples taken on 200m x 25m grid spacing on Luhwaika Prospect; 1,693 detailed soil geochemistry samples taken on 200m x 25m grid spacing on Igunda Prospect; 548 detailed soil geochemistry samples taken on 100m x 25m grid spacing at Luhwaika Prospect.
Approximately 12 line kilometres of high-resolution IP surveys were conducted at the Luhwaika and Igunda Prospects; 14 line kilometres of high-resolution IP surveys were undertaken at the Msonga Prospect; 189 line kilometres of high-resolution gradient array IP surveys were completed at the Luhwaika and Igunda Prospects. The following table provides data on the various drill programs conducted on the Kigosi property since 2008.
Gold Mineralization Potential Summary and Results
Within the confines of the Kigosi Project Area, two forms of gold-sulphide mineralization have been distinguished at the Luhwaika and Igunda Prospects
Luhwaika Prospect: Reef Deposit
At Luhwaika, two principal shear zones have been identified as the Luhwaika Main (yellow) and Luhwaika West (purple) reefs. These reefs carry significant gold mineralization as evidenced by strike extensive small-scale mining and exploration shafts, and more recent drill results.
The gold mineralization in the Luhwaika Main reef is structurally controlled, consisting mostly of lodes of laminated quartz veins impregnated in strongly sheared and altered quartz-sericite schist with occasional massive tabular whitish-grey quartz vein blow-outs. Recent exploration drilling has only managed to cover a strike length of 1.9km (down to a vertical depth of 100m) but the project is still open to the northwest and southeast as well as down dip to extend the reefs at greater depths.
Luhwaika Prospect: Rubble Deposit
This type of mineralization at Kigosi is classified as oxide gold mineralization within a quartz rubble unit that formed from weathering induced “collapse” of the Luhwaika Main and West reefs (thick blue outline on map). This has been the target of illegal artisanal mining in the area. Due to the highly erratic nature of the gold grades within this unit, we have commenced a close spaced pitting program in order to generate a more accurate estimation of the resource and grade distribution for this rubble bed.
Igunda Prospect: Reef Deposit
At Igunda, two principal shear zones have been identified: the Igunda A and B reefs. Closely associated with the reefs are sub-parallel quartz-feldspar porphyry units.
Gold mineralization is structurally controlled and comprises pyrite-impregnated and shear-laminated quartz stringers and ribbons in sheared basalt and localized in two sub-vertical dipping northwest striking shear zones, dipping steeply (75º – 85º) northeast.
Msonga Prospect: Reef Deposit
The Msonga Project Area lies in the northern part of the former Kigosi Game Reserve and there are very few records of any previous exploration conducted on the area. The Msonga Project is an integral part of the Company’s ongoing Kigosi gold exploration project in Tanzania. It comprises a number of strike extensive targets made up of recently discovered soil and geophysical targets.
The Company is currently conducting RC drilling on the project where gold mineralization is structurally controlled and comprises pyrite-impregnated and shear-laminated quartz stringers and ribbons in sheared basalt localized in three sub-vertical dipping E-W striking shear zones, dipping steeply (75º – 85º) south.
Summary and Conclusions
The Kigosi Project has been subjected to extensive exploration, specifically by Tanzanian Royalty over the past eight years with the bulk of detailed work programs focused on the Luhwaika, Igunda and Msonga Prospects. The methods of exploration used range from regional scale reconnaissance techniques to local invasive drilling and bulk sampling techniques that have ultimately and successfully been interpreted to identify a number of other prospects (Bungoni/Msonga West) and the preliminary quantification of a potentially economic gold resource at Luhwaika and Igunda.
The Company has also conducted a preliminary Environmental Impact Study Assessment at the behest of the Director of Wildlife whereby it outlined the positive and negative impacts of our exploration activities within the context of establishing the theme of environmental conservation through positive exploration.
The Company has also contracted an external auditor, Venmyn Pvt Ltd of South Africa, to conduct due diligence of the current work done as well as any resources so far defined as required by various stock exchanges worldwide.
For the immediate future, the Company plans to continue with its exploration activities to achieve some of the following objectives:
- Continue to build up and delineate any potential resource base on the Luhwaika and Igunda Prospects (6000m planned).
- Commence grassroots exploration programs such as RAB drilling on the regional targets that have been identified from previous regional exploration work.
